Engagement Story

Aaron and Kathy were engaged on July 31st, 2008 near the top of Mt. Fuji in Japan.  Although Aaron had lofty goals to propose at the Summit, they only made it to a bit above the 8th Station.  After a long, arduous, cold hike Aaron proposed at the Hakuun-so Hut at sunrise (around ~3,100 meters at about 4:30 AM). The engagement date changes depending on who you talk to — after all back in the USA it was July 30th but in the Land of the Rising sun, it was July 31st.

We saw an awesome sunrise and fantastic vistas so it was well worth the trip — despite all the griping and complaining Kathy did on her way up the mountain, she wouldn’t have traded the experience for anything.
