Invitations – Hot Off of the Press

I got an email on Monday from Amanda over at alee & press, the Atlanta, GA stationary and printing shop that is responsible for my wedding invitations. I thought this would be a great time to talk about my invitations, namely, why did I even get them? I’m sure you guys know how eco-conscious I am [...]

Hotels for Friday Night (Nov 5th)

Sooo. Looks like the weekend starting Friday, November 5th is going to be pretty popular one in Charlottesville. I was calling to reserve a block of rooms at hotels close to the Clifton Inn for Friday / Saturday night and it is turning out to be more of a hassle than I anticipated.
The Hilton Garden [...]

An Ode to Etsy

Before wedding planning took up a lot of my free time on weekends, I spent a fair amount of time trolling the internet. I was introduced to Etsy about two years ago by my friend Aimee. I recieved Lego earrings as a Christmas present. When I asked her where she got them, she replied, “Etsy“.
Since [...]

Carbon Neutral is Apparently Hilarious To Some

I got a lot of laughs today at work when I mentioned that one of my top goals for my wedding was to have a “carbon neutral or even a carbon negative footprint.” This came after some discussion in which some co-workers of mine were teasing me about spending too much money. Although I think [...]

Cappellino’s Crazy Cakes

Cappellino's Crazy Cakes is a cupcake and cookie shop that opened up on the Downtown Mall in June 2008. It's run by a brother-and-sister due, Frank and Dotty Cappellino. What I know them for is delicious cupcakes that have sweet (but not to sweet) icing that is always embellished with glitter (yes, glitter).

Vintage Postage Stamps

I just got a set of vintage postage stamps off of Etsy (complements of VerdeStudio). Take a look: [stamp image]. I got the idea to use old unused postage stamps from A Green Bride Guide. It's a small way to make sure that old things aren't going to waste and to also make an eco-friendly statement.

In Case You’re Looking at the Site: New Stylesheet

I updated the theme stylesheet for the website today in an attempt to make everything jive with our wedding theme and colors. It's a work in progress but come by and take a look if you're so inclined. It's nice to leave the confines of an RSS reader sometimes ... right?

Ceremony Musician: Harpist Virginia Schweninger

Aaron and I drove to lovely Nelson County last weekend to meet with Virginia Schweninger, a professional harpist and teacher at Sweet Briar College. Out of all of the ceremony musician possibilities, I was pretty much dead-set on the harp. It has a perfect sound between formal (like a piano) ...

A Social Experiment with My Fav Tool, Twitter

I'm sure you guys know how much I *love* Twitter. I haven't found much of a use for it, ever, but I decided to give it another go to see how useful it would be for microblogging status updates, facts, quick info, etc for this wedding. You can follow @kathyandaaron to hear our wedding-related tweets.

Officiant: Claire Goodman

A few weeks ago Aaron and I met with Reverend Claire Goodman. We saw her conduct Lauren and Aprotim Sanyal's wedding a few years ago at the U.Va Chapel. She struck us as very down to earth and not too "preachy" which is perfect for us.
